More Videos: This Time It's Zac Marben Getting Lobbled

6/29/10

Tis the season of never ending trailers for the new movies coming out this year, and all the filmers are releasing tidbits and extra footy in anticipation of the upcoming barrage. Today we have something from the People Crew's series of slam web clips starring Vans Team Rider Zac Marben as he has an unfortunate run in with a giant cement wedge. Zac's not afraid to go for it when it comes to urban shredding; unfortunately this time he paid the price. Look for Zac's full part when "Cheers" drops this Fall.

Head on over to www.shayboarder.com to read her 100-day review of the Vans Veil boot. Shayboarder is one of snowboarding's most productive bloggers with gear reviews, industry insider interviews, resort reports and more on her website. This summer she is posted up at Windells Camp on Mt. Hood, where she will apparently continue to ride her durable Vans Veils until the dirt, slush and sun finally take their toll. Man, we sure wish we got 100 days of riding in this year! Props to Shay for putting time in on the hill...

SPECIAL BLEND, FORUM AND FOURSQUARE PRESENT F’IT

6/14/10

Photobucket
F’ It is the 7th team-inspired film brought to you by Special Blend, Forum and Foursquare, and stars John Jackson, Stevie Bell, Nic Sauve, Jake Welch, Niko Cioffi, Cameron Pierce, Austen Sweetin and The Youngbloods. Due to various injuries at the most inappropriate of times, F’ It will co-star Peter Line, Pat Moore, Andreas Wiig and Daniel Ek.

Instead of dishing out the usual dose of marketing bullshit about how great the movie is and what to expect, here are some quotes on the film straight from the riders’ mouths:

“With Pat out of the picture, I might actually have a shot at getting the opener!”

“Nic has such nice hair, I wonder if he is sponsored by Suave?”

“Peter’s so legendary, he doesn’t even need a part.”

“How did John manage to have a better season than last year?!?”

“You think Andreas looks good when he’s filming? You should see how good he looks when he isn’t.”

“Who the F is Austen Sweetin?”

Coming Fall 2010 to a snowboard shop near you, along with iTunes digital download, stay tuned for more information on F’ It at special-blend.com, forumsnowboards.com and foursquareouterwear.com.

Enni Rukajarvi? Mark McMorris? Ulrik Badertscher? Until this season, you probably never heard any of these names. Neither did we. The 2009/2010 contest season was swirling with new riders and heavy competition though. High school groms took out seasoned pros. Doublecorks dropped left and right. Each stop had a new standout or a new name atop the podium. This past season saw an even more youthful changing of guard.

To keep track of it all, here’s a tally of slopestyle and big air champs from some of the biggest events of the year. Keep you eyes out for them this upcoming season and be certain that there are more on the way…

Transworld Snowboarding Pro Spotlight: Andreas Wiig

6/3/10

Photobucket

Andreas Wiig. Photo: Frode Sandbech.

The real contest—for riders like Andreas Wiig—is happening inside their head. And Wiig seems to have mastered his mental game considering his output in the past few seasons. Countless podium finishes and wins at the highest levels of competition, technical spin tricks into Tahoe powder, and video parts that freak us all out. Few riders bring the one-two punch that Wiig delivers. Balancing his powder pursuits with the contest circuit, Wiig treads where few riders dare—everywhere. And in his quest to become the best all-around rider he can be, he’s pushed himself, his peers, and even the upcoming generation of shreds to seek higher highs and heavier hammers.
