Picture This: Nick Poohachoff

12/31/10

Alli Sports has a new feature called "Picture This", and our hard workin' Vans Am Pooch is the man. Nick "Pooch" Poohachoff stepped behind the camera this time to give us a look into his world. What did we learn? 1. His fridge is empty. 2. He rolls with Benjamins in his backpack. 3. His friends pack heat! This and other visual insights can be found at www.allisports.com.

Trick Tip: Switch BS 900 With Eric Willett

12/29/10

From SNOWBOARDER Magazine:

SNOWBOARDER is bringing you a series of how-to snowboard videos to help fill up that bag of tricks, and help you learn how to ride that snowboard a little better.

Big things are happening for Eric Willett. After impressive finishes in last year's contest circuit, Quiksilver just brought him on their team. It might be a bit early in the season to start throwing switch backside 900's, but maybe you can listen to what Eric has to say and start trying them by jumping on your bed? If your bed breaks, it's not our fault. Watch and learn.

SUP BRO?: Eric Willett Full Part

12/27/10

From Snowboarder Magazine:

Sup Bro? Bra, shaka, far out, radical, tubular, totally, double cork, bitchin, cowabunga, dude, epic, sick, EXTREME, chyeah, dank, fo’ sho, gnarly, righteous. You get the point. Eric Willett, Chris Willett, Zak Shelhamer’s parts from the Colorado based snowboard film… “Sup Bro?”. If you can put all of those words above into one sentence…. you are the man.

Second "RT To Win" Twitter Contest Winner

12/22/10

Congratulations to @AshleyyNicole_ for being the second winner of the "RT To Win" twitter contest. For retweeting one of our @vanssnow tweets with the #VansSnow hashtag, @AshleyyNicole_ scored a brand new pair of Vans Snowboard Boots! Nice job Ashley, we hope you get to use them a lot this season, and judging by the snowfall amounts this year, it looks like you'll have plenty of chances. Have a great winter, and thanks to everyone who entered the contest. Remember, we'll be doing this one more time this week, so if you didn't win this time there's another chance before X-Mas!

Cheryl Maas Takes Third Place At Winter Dew Tour

12/20/10

The first stop of the Winter Dew Tour is a wrap, and Vans had two riders in the slopestyle competition looking for that first big win of the season. Eric Willett and Cheryl Maas were in the finals on Sunday and despite the near blizzard-like conditions, rode like the winter warriors they are. As AlliSports.com puts it, "For a moment, it seemed like Breckenridge local Eric Willet would take the event title after throwing the run of his life with back-to-back double corks and a backside rodeo 5. But the magic fell apart when he attempted a switch back 10 double cork on the last hit and slid out the landing."

Even though that last fall would put him in 7th, big ups to Eric for going all out for the win.

For the ladies, Cheryl Maas rode strong and solid enough to grab a podium spot with a third place finish.

"The jumps were nice and big and the rails were really smooth," Maas said. "I just was making my way through the course and I was just happy I was still standing."

Congratulations to both riders for enduring the elements and representing Vans. For more results and a video from the finals, go to www.allisports.com.

Vans Team At Breckenridge Dew Tour

12/18/10

Our man on the scene Dave Doomey checked in with an update and some photos from the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge, CO this weekend. Vans Team Riders Andreas Wiig, Hana Beaman, Eric Willett and Vans Am Nick Poohachoff are all in town taking part in the action. Here's what he had to say: "Eric and Andreas were the two competitors today. Andreas was riding well but did not make the finals. Eric Willett was riding well today and placed second for the finals which start at 11am on Sunday. Nick Poohachoff was able to strap in today and cruz the mountain after coming back from a bone bruise on his heel. Hana Beaman has been riding the mountain all week getting herself ready for the up coming 2011 X Games. She has been killing the park all week. Vans snow team is killing it at the Breckenridge Dew Tour 2010."

Pooch Cameo in "Dropping In With Chas"

12/16/10

Vans Am Nick Poohachoff is a busy beaver these days. On top of all his footage out of NZ this summer, Nick scored a cameo in Episode 2 of the web series, "Dropping in with Chas", which looks to document Chas Guldemond's 2010/2011 season. This second episode follows Chas as he gets his feet under him through the beginning of his season in Summit Country, Colorado. Guest appearances by Luke Mitrani, Scotty Lago, Torstein Horgmo, Tim Humphries, Ian Thorley, Mark Hoyt, and our main man Pooch. Nice job kid!

Hana Beaman On Snowboarder Magazine's Guestbook

12/13/10

Hana Beaman checked in with Snowboarder Magazine recently for another edition of their "Guestbook". This is where pros check in with the mag and answer semi-ridiculous questions that usually have nothing to do with snowboarding. It's a chance for the readers to get up close and personal with the riders and delve a little deeper into their personality. In this edition, Hana finally solves the mystery to such questions as, "What's the key to a good wedgie?".

DEW TOUR: BRECKENRIDGE, CO

BROOKYLN's TAVERN and BILLIARDS - 520 SOUTH MAIN STREET

I AM SNOWBOARDING ART with SPECIAL GUEST CHRIS BRUNKHART.

ABOUT I AM SNOWBOARDING: Traveling art exhibit in honor of Jeffrey Lin Anderson, as seen on FUEL TV, San Francisco Channel 2 News, Portland KOIN Channel 6 morning news, etc. and now featured in Unbound magazine, is "one of the most original events in snowboarding and art." In honor of what would have been Jeff's 30th birthday, a group of 44 world-renowned photographers and artists have come together to pay tribute to Jeff, and to raise money for the JLA Memorial Fund. Each image started with a photo of Jeff that was captured by someone who knew him well. The photo was enlarged onto canvas, and a separate artist then painted, or used a medium of his choice to create a unique collaborative work of art. The resulting pieces are one of a kind. The partnerships in this project are a tribute to the depth of the snowboarding, skateboarding and art communities. For info please visit IAMsnowboarding.com.

ABOUT AR4T: Artists Republic for Tomorrow is an art advocacy program where progressive creatives born from youth culture have a place to show their work and be supported with assistance in public outreach via newsletters, press, events. It is our hope to plant our seed amongst a garden of others and provide a little more water to help this forest grow. The New Community Garden.

ABOUT THE JLA PROJECT: The JLA Project is a non-profit organization created in 2003 by Jeff Anderson's family to provide skate parks, art spaces and the tools that support children and young adults as they pursue their dreams in art, sport, and education. Mt. Baker Opening Day Photos

12/1/10

The early season snow is falling in heaps all over the country this year, as many resorts are already experiencing mid-winter conditions. And although it's not as unusual in the Great Northwest, it's always a welcome treat. Mt. Baker consistently has some of the best opening days of any mountain, and this year was no different. Cold temps and plenty of powder made for yet another epic start for the Baker locals, including Vans Team Rider Mark Landvik. Check out the ESPN.com photo galleryto see photographer Liam Gallagher's recap of the day.
